Deliveroo’s anti-slavery policy

At Deliveroo, we believe that everyone has a basic right to expect safe and fair working conditions and we expect all who work with us to adopt the same high standards.

We are committed to ensuring that no form of slavery, human trafficking or forced labour takes place in our supply chains.  This isn’t just a policy statement - the standards in this policy are fundamental and non-negotiable. We will not work with any person who does not operate to the same values and standards.

Scope

This policy document outlines Deliveroo’s policy against modern slavery and human trafficking.  It covers standards and principles that we expect everyone that we work with to respect, promote and comply with.  It applies to all riders engaged by Deliveroo under a supplier agreement to arrange the collection and delivery of food, drinks and other items through the Deliveroo rider app. You must ensure that you read, understand and comply with this Policy.

Compliance with this policy

We take the matters described in this policy very seriously.  If we have concerns that you are not meeting these standards, we expect to collaborate to resolve any issues promptly. We reserve the right to cease working with you until the relevant concerns have been addressed. If we suspect you are in breach of this Policy, we may terminate your supplier agreement or refer the matter to the relevant authorities as appropriate.

Deliveroo Rider Supplier Standards

Deliveroo believes that applying this Policy enables us to take real and practical steps towards improving social conditions in our supply chains.

The following Standards are particularly relevant if you have the right to engage others to perform the services under your supplier agreement. If you engage a substitute, you are wholly responsible for managing that relationship and their remuneration (including the payment of any taxes or other required deductions) under the terms you agree with them.

  1. We expect you to comply with all applicable laws.  We expect everyone we work with to comply with all applicable laws - in particular those that prohibit slavery and unethical working practices, anti-facilitation of tax evasion and any applicable minimum wage laws.
  2. Work is freely chosen and offered on fair terms.  No person should ever be forced to work for you and anyone who does work for you will be offered fair terms that comply with relevant laws.
  3. Child labour must be prevented at all costs. We have a collective responsibility to ensure that children are not forced into work. If you have the right to engage others to perform services under your supplier agreement, they must meet minimum age requirements set by Deliveroo.
  4. Any form of abuse or harassment is categorically not accepted.  Everyone can expect to be treated with respect and dignity.  Inhumane treatment, any physical, verbal or other abuse and any and all forms of harassment are not tolerated by Deliveroo.
  5. We celebrate differences and promote equal opportunities, no discrimination will be tolerated.  No discrimination based on who a person is or what they believe in is acceptable in any context.
  6. Workers are compensated fairly.  Compensation must meet legal requirements and any deductions must be fair and transparent.
  7. Responsible sourcing.  You should demand the same standards from anyone you work with or purchase goods or services from.
  8. This is just the beginning.  These principles must be more than a statement of intentions.  We will continue to assess and mitigate risks on an ongoing basis, as part of a programme of continuous improvement. As well as ensuring that you meet the principles in this policy, we ask that you provide us with feedback if you identify any potential risks areas or opportunities for improvement so that these can be addressed appropriately.
