How do I complete my Criminal Record Check (CRC)

All new Deliveroo riders need to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) as part of the onboarding process. A Criminal Record Check is a background check that confirms whether you have any unspent convictions. It’s a safety requirement that helps protect our customers, partners and riders.

This check is carried out by our background check provider, First Advantage (previously known as Sterling).

Step-by-step: How to complete your Criminal Record Check

Check your email:

After your application to be a rider is approved, you’ll receive an email from First Advantage with instructions on how to complete your Criminal Record Check.

⚠️ Tip: Check your spam or junk folder if you don’t see it within 24 hours of approval.

Log in or create your First Advantage account

  • If you’ve used Sterling/First Advantage before, log in using the same email and password.
  • If you’re new, follow the link in the email to create an account.

Complete the online form

You’ll be asked to enter:

  • Your personal details (full name, address history, date of birth).
  • Details on two forms of ID, such as a passport and driving licence.
  • Information about your residence and employment history.

Upload your ID

You’ll need 2 forms of ID:

  • Photo ID: like a passport or driving licence.
  • Proof of address: a bank statement or utility bill from the last 3 months.

⚠️ Tip: Make sure your photos are clear, well lit, and show all four corners.

Wait for confirmation

Your Criminal Record Check will be processed by First Advantage. This usually takes 1-3 working days, although it may take longer if First Advantage to make some additional checks or if your document photos aren’t clear.

Keep an eye on your email for updates or requests for more information. If you need to contact First Advantage, you can email them at gigcandiatesupport@fadv.com

If your check isn’t finished within 30 days, your account may be temporarily paused until it’s cleared.
